Marble Vanity

Question

What is a safe cleanser that will also make my marble vanity sparkle and shine?Does anyone know?Thanks in advance!

When I moved into my home 2 years ago, I discovered the marble island top was very dull. I cleaned it first with lime away. Do not scrub. Just put it on with a heavy hand and let it sit about 30 minutes and wipe off. This may take more than one application. After you can see that the dull finish is gone, then clean it with Mr. Clean or straight ammonia. That will remove any film left behind. From then on, only clean with Mr. Clean or ammonia. I found that it was due to the previous owners just wiping it down with a wet sponge or dish rag and we have very hard water which leaves behind the dull finish. We since installed a water softener, and now I only use the Lime Away once a month. Hope this works for you.

I use baking soda, I wet the sink, sprinkle some baking soda in it and clean it with a wet paper towel.. (Bounty) then I rinse well with clear water, good as new..Baking soda won't scratch it...

Vinegar & backing soda will take away the hard water build up.. I like to use Rain-X or turtle wax, it helps prevent water spot's, build up & makes it shine.... 'Method' cleaning products worked well for me, had a glass shower door dull with build up, used the Method tile & glass and it stayed clear for months.

@ Carol, I have the same problem, but my vanity is black marble. I read where to never use any thing with ammonia or vinegar on marble. I use a stone cleaner on mine and then a thin coat of baby oil. Work the baby oil in with a soft cloth. Works great, gives it shine.

Everyone is going to stone such as granite, but I still love my old marble counter tops in my bathrooms. There is NEVER that grim ring around where it fits into the top! I have not idea how to shine them, just wanted to comment on my still liking my tops!

I have a curling iron burn mark on my marble any ideas on ways to get that out without resurfacing?

@CHANTELLE N----You can use fine wet/dry sandpaper to get rid of burn marks---IF it is deep you might need a coarser grade to start but I would use a FINE and then work up to a SUPER FINE and then you will need to coat the are with something to match the shine level---if it is small you might even be able to just use clear nail polish.

Make sure to keep the sand paper wet and to rub in circles and as close to the edges of the mark as you can. If it is a deep 'flaky' looking burn I would take it to a stone working yard for their opinion. IF you can't get 'rid' of the mark could you use a pretty tray over that area as a cover up? That would hold useful or decorative stuff and no one would see it!

@ Shelby Soto - My brother owns a marble/granite shop and has installed a small counter top in my bathroom. It is natural granite, not cultured. He recommends 'Close EnCounters Spray cleaner' by Stone Care International (SCI) for natural stone, Corian, Formica and the other faux surfaces. I got mine at Home Depot, but Lowe's or any other hardware-type store should have it. I've not looked at WallyWorld, but it wouldn't surprise me if they have it. Good luck! (There is also a polish, same brand, but after 3 1/2 years of use including makeup, hairspray, etc., it really hasn't needed a polish. It's still shiny and nice looking.)

I've used nail polish remover; seems safe. I see no harm, and it cuts through makeup and hairspray. Just ventilate well and avoid getting it on wood or drywall. I've also used it to remove hairspray from the tile floor.

Yes , I have already used this type of designs marble in my home from AA Stone Impex. Mix a tablespoon of castile soap or dish soap with some warm water and wipe the surface of your marble vanity to remove more serious dirt.I hope it will help you.
