Need help selecting rug runners

Well , I am over whelmed , I need a hallway runner, and throw rugs in front of our chairs. I just went online, and I am over whelmed. So many web sites to go to, anyone have a favorite? I am blown away by the prices too. OUCH

I find shopping for items like that online really frustrating, both because the selection is overwhelming, and because I am never exactly sure what I am getting. I would rather shop in person at a flooring store and suffer a smaller selection to be able to touch and see the actual products.

I am thinking the same Steve, I read some comments on a particular runner I really liked and several people said they were very thin and needed a pad under them.

and I need sooo many hallway feet! yikes!

If you need a longer than normal runner, the carpet store by me will make one from any carpet you choose in the store. They may do matching rugs for your chairs or sometimes they will sell you the sample pads that are in the store-if they are the right size. Maybe you could call around your area. As far as price, it was slightly less than buying multiple runners and area rugs.

Thanks Dee for the suggestion. I had forgotten about carpet samples. Over 40 years ago, in a galaxy far far away, in poorville, I had taken samples, about 12 of them, $1 each, and sewed them together. They lasted for years. My kids were babies then and where we lived had no carpets. I needed something warmer than the cold floor for them to crawl on. It was a very pretty patchwork carpet too, lively colors.

Ours will give them away also at certain times of the year. I try to get them and donate them to libraries, day care facilities, churches, ..... etc.----I hope you find what you are looking for soon.

Depends what you want. If you just want plain carpet runners you can go to a home store like Lowes and buy carpet off a huge roll per liner foot. I think the rolls may be 12 feet wide, get a 3 foot wide piece and have the edges finished.

Thanks Kathy, I did but I didn't like the selection.HD either. Costco has some area carpets, for 14.95ish, I would need about 5, but they are beige, lighter than my carpet, but at least no color clash. Not really what I want, but I need to take into consideration I am very changeable..how long will I want these before I am tired of them? So don't want to put a lot of money into carpets. I think I can handle 5 or so at costco. but Iam not committed yet. oops just reread your post, youare ...»
talking about regular sized carpet, not the runner by the foot...oh,I may check that out!think I will post another on how to finish the edges.thanks.

Good-you can finish the edge. I was going to mention that neither HD nor Lowes will finish the carpet like a carpet store. You are very clever, and handy. :>)

I havent solved my area rug problem yet, I have some here from costco but I am thinking they are too busy. I had gotten one earlier but when I went back to get more, they were all gone and a new selection was in so I bought 10 of the new until I make a decision. So am still looking, but not aggressively, it is finally getting "hot" here, and that dampens zeal for anything.

You want the "right" one so unless there is a reason, take your time. Can they maybe get the rug from another cotsco?
