This process took about a week to complete {our entire main floor - 1,200sq ft}
Fortunately for me, my husband is a professional painter, so we already knew we had a good supplier for a finish coating. And we all know using good quality finishes is very important!
The stain color we chose is Walnut, it's very dark, but very beautiful.

I would add that with very old flooring (ours nearly 100 years), there is a conditioner product from Minwax that kept old dry wood from drinking up the stain like iced tea.
