What to do? which look do you like best? - help

I purchased this dresser from a flea market and I know how I want to paint it but out of these three looks which do you like best?? It is going to be painted white with an antique finish and the top stay dark. I am going to be using it as a buffet style look in my kitchen so look one or look two where I took out drawers would be baskets or look three no door and use as shelves or put baskets? I am puzzled I really hope you all give me some advice?
help please which look do you like the most? I like them all so I just cant decide

What I would do before deciding which look you want is to go looking for baskets. You may choose picture #2 and have it all painted and find that you can't find the right size baskets or the same with picture #3. I personally like the one with the middle left alone, it leaves more of the carved design of the piece. But I would look for baskets before deciding

  • love the second one with long baskets included! But really , this is going to be beautiful and functional no matter which option you pick! Which one would be more helpful in your space? xo

I like the texture the middle drawers will give the piece. I vote for long baskets.

I would do the second one and make 8 baskets.

Look 2... The drawers are what make it look more like a dresser and less of a kitchen piece. The door gives it enough character. The top drawers would be great for storing items like placemats. The long baskets would be great for fruits or veggies... I would use darker baskets to compliment the top.

I also like # 3, b/c it retains more of the character, esp. the great carving. Whatever you do, it will be awesome! :) Enjoy your project. :)

For a kitchen I think #2 would be most functional and look great! Luv to see pics when you are finished!

@Trent-Tonya Sharp wow i guess i am swimming against the tide here but i love # 1 this dresser has so much detail i wouldn't want any thing else...tell me why can't you paint the whole thing like you are going to then remove pieces and go from there? xx

we are going with look #3 we are also putting in the wine holder and with more drawers it leave more storage.. thank you all so much for the help... i love hometalk!!!!!!

I personally like the piece as a whole...but I can visualize #2 with baskets and with the middle being used for storing wine and perhaps wineglass holders....Keep the door! If you decide to remove the drawers, save the drawer fronts and make something special with them.

Look 3 for me. The details on the front add so much character to the piece that I wouldn't want to lose that by taking away too much. With just the center as baskets or whatever it would look fabulous. Whichever you choose, please post when done. I also love the wood finish on top style with the rest painted. Fun fun project! Good luck.

Look 3 is my favorite, open but still with lots of hidden storage!!
  • Peggy Peggy on Aug 04, 2014
I like 1 or 3. #2 takes away too much of the character of the piece

I like #3. You still have the gorgeous drawers, but also a small space for baskets. Can't wait to see it finished!

Whatever you decide to do ... paint all of the pieces anyway. It will allow you to change your mind. You can never go back and match something previously painted. You can get close, but you would always be able to tell that a certain drawer front or door was painted at a different time!!!
