Coastal Shingle Style Cottage Resurrection

I would say this was a makeover but that wouldn't do this project justice!

Here in New England, we don't condemn homes, we call them historic. When we stumbled upon this house we knew it would be a rescue mission. With no plumbing, heat and very little outdated electricity, it was suitable for the bees and squirrels, but not for humans. After almost six years of living in a construction site, our hard work is done! The decorating may never end, but the construction has!

What I bought- we added the plywood and the dumpster when we jacked up the house to replace the rotten sills.

The back. This looks pretty scary, but it never occurred to us to be afraid at the time.

Vinyl siding wasn't my first choice, but for reasons of cost and the levels of maintenance required here on the water, we went for it.

We opted for a stone porch vs wood or vinyl so it would last for the long haul

You have every right to be proud of all the beautiful work you've put into to this house...have to agree with Joan A...I would still be running...

There is genious in this house. From the drift wood hand rails on the stairs, to the light fixtures inside and out, to the color palate! I want to move in!

give yourself a pat on the back!! We bought a house for $1000. 1800's, small house, with 2 parts added to it later(such as a bathroom, and then 2 other rooms in later years.(Totally about 1100 sq ft. My hubby and I are doing all the work ourselves on our days off work. You said u lived on site? Camping? Hummm good idea.

Can you see you put mucho dinero into your home...............like I said pat yourself on the ...»

back..............the out come is always wonderful! I will post pics here when we are all done, which will be awhile.

Marcia- 1k? Good for you! Now there's a project I'd be on board for! We lived in two rooms and washed dishes in the bathroom for a while. It wasn't too bad but I can't say I'd do it again!!

Truly a work or love in every second of reconstruction is evident is this beautiful home. As far as decorating goes, I don't think someone that loves their home is ever done with that aspect of it. Change always makes us happy, no matter how big or small. Just ENJOY now that the hard part is over.
