I painted this yard sale French armchair gold and recovered it in a lime- chartreusey green leopard fabric with roping trim.
BEFORE- This French armchair had beautiful lines and wood to start with, but I wanted to turn it into a statement piece for this Master Bedroom.
A few years ago, when I first found this chair, I made a pattern by cutting dropcloth and draping & cutting it to fit the chair. I really liked the neutral look it gave our Master bedroom for a while.
I wanted a change, so I painted the wood white, but after seeing it in the space with the fabric, I was not happy with the results.
I bought this leopard fabric and rope trim to turn the chair into a statement piece in the Master bedroom.
Then I decided to paint the chair gold, for some WOW factor. This was a definite learning experience ( you can read more details on my blog )
The chair with the gold really gives the bedroom a beautiful finishing touch. I made a pillow out of some coral velvet fabric, then added some tan/black Greek key trim to give it some depth.
I think the gold really accentuates the pretty lines of this French armchair. Recovering it was really easy once a pattern was made- just lay the dropcloth pattern on the new fabric, cut, and staple on top of the original fabric.
