Unusual Bluebird Home

This sun hangs above our side door into the garage, we go in out of this door frequently all day. What a surprise to find a family of bluebirds using it for a nest!
Bluebirds in my yard, they usually have their first nest of the season in a birdhouse and not a bluebird house either. We do have the standard bluebird house but they don't nest there. This season the second nest was made in this sun.
I could never get a picture of the babies, but I saw and heard them. Really!
The female bluebird feeding her babies.
I think he is looking at me taking his picture.
This is the female sitting on the highline, just before sundown with a worm for her babies. She is waiting for me to leave.

My open carport has hanging shop lights & every year we get barn swallows making nests on them. I've tried hanging an owl replica, placing rubber snakes there, all to no avail. The parent birds fly in & out & poop all over my car in addition to leaving a large pile of droppings on the floor underneath the nests. Any suggestions to encourage them to go elsewhere?
    • @Ila V Scifres Sorry no, but it makes me think of the time a cardinal saw himself in my son's new black truck mirror and he pooped on the truck constantly. ;-)
