wine bottle lamps

To make lamps you need a bottle cutter. It takes alot of practice and patience to get the bottles right. I Use a good outdoor glue to attach decorations to bottles.

We used to make whiskey bottle lamps and the neighborhood bar saved all their empties for us. It got to be popular and we made quite a few bucks from it. We would decorate the lamp shades to whateverthe person wanted. Cow prints were popular. and you could find the light kits at any hardware store.

These are so pretty-can see them used at many different functions as table decoration. Where do you get the decorations from? Reminds me also of when I was a kid and my dad would cut bottle necks off and sand them down to make drinking glasses. Probably a Ronco product.

You do need a bottle cutter. Can be purchased at craft stores or online!

Well I think it's pretty darned cute!! Sandy could you get a little more specific on the "good outdoor glue"??? Like EXACTLY what kind of glue - name?

I love these and I think thery're right up there on the cuteness scale w/the revival of "tire planters" - which I'm working on at this very time!! ;~)

I use Goop brand adhesive, the outdoor one or the household one. I have had my ones outside and seem to hold up fine.

Hmmm I thought I posted but must not have clicked on comment!

I love these, I do not think they are tacky, I think they are clever, and what a fun addition to a patio or porch or any outdoor space. How high end must something be to not be tacky? The little dish pieces could hold jewelry, thumb tacks, paper clips, etc. I use clear silicone caulk or E6000 for my glass pieces, will have to try Goop! I am not savvy about glass cutters, is it difficult to cut glass bottles?

Honestly, bottle cutting is not easy. It takes patience and practice. Bottle cutters run average 25.00 . We have done quite a few, and you will be lucky to get good cuts 50% of the time when you first start. I have bars and my wino friends (LOL) saving me their bottles so hopefully you will get many good ones. We now get an average of 95% good cut bottles, but like I said, practice. And dont be afraid to try different types bottles,eg. wine, liquor, beer, can do jars too! Some people hand ...»
paint their projects, I like stones and glass pieces.

People like bottle trees, I think these are BEAUTIFUL hung in your trees in multiples all lit up .I will try to take a picture and post.

As for using Goop brand glue, i like it because its a bit thicker than E6000. Havent used silicone caulk. Might try that too. My lamps have been outside in heat and weather this summer and haven't fell apart .

Thankyou to all that like my projects!

Wow! Such great ideas for reusing bottles. I'm curious what you do with the corks/caps. Do you reuse/repurpose them as well?
