It is early Sunday morning and I was thinking what I could share with you. I guess, I use FB as my daily blog.www.facebook.com/bigwhitegoosebarnhouse. I have a blog but just find this easier to keep all you lovely creative people updated on odds and sods. So... thinking this morning what I could share. I try to be informative, fun, even if not all the things I do are 'your cup of tea'.
LOL! Anyway, yesterday a customer wanted to jazz up an old door panel.. it was large and she wanted a dramatic, textured look. So I came up with this.
Sample was plain base board, but you could do this on any project you want if you like this sort of thing.
1) Plain Olive Chalk Paint®by Annie Sloan over base.
2) Paint Gold Size (glue for leafing) in areas you want to put your choice of leafing.
3) Using scrunch up Wax Paper girls is great for transferring leafing to your project by the way.. (little tip)
4) Spread Fine Stone or any other texture paste over gilding.
5)Paint, dry, paint again in contrasting colors
6)Sand back.
7) Clear and Dark Wax.
8) Big glass of wine...
I love this look of texture and how you can build it up. I guess I play a bit with this look as just find it amazing how a piece of base board or wood can be so transformed so easily. Great for pic frames don't you think. Anyway, like I said, maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but the lady loved it and me. Phew!!!!

Final Look
Base Coat Chalk Paint® Annie Sloan in Olive
Ready to apply after Gold Size is painted on and left to become tacky. Use wax paper to apply randomly.
I use this rub on leafing. Turn this face down and rub the back with the wax paper to transfer, and gold leafing.
You can get leafing at Michaels in batches of 25. This one with multi colors was part of the Martha Steward ones.
Fine Stone
Apply with scrapper or small plastic trowel, or in my case old store card. Paint the color of your choice on top of this. Sorry no picture of this stage. Let dry or use hairdryer.
Finished
If you like this and not everyone likes this look, you could use it on panels, frames, boxes, anything that needs an accent look.

Sorry Katie will try to be clearer. Once you have your piece painted, brush on the glue or gold size, it should dry clear and sticky or tacky. The multi colored leafing or foil is from Martha Stewarts range at Michaels.. with this one you place the foil face down on the painted piece, then with a sheet of wax paper, scrunched up to a ball, you rub over the foil or leaving, this transfers it to the paint. After you lift of the backing paper on the multi colored foil, you can rub over the foil with the wax paper. The wax paper makes it easy to smooth without any of the glue getting stuck onto the paper or if you used a brush for e.g.. Does this help at all. It would look fab on both cabinet or bench.. bye for now Cheryl
