Chalkboard Feature Wall

This project started with a large blank wall, an unused corner and a crazy love for contrast and dusty chalkboards. Oh, yeah, and there was a need to control clutter, as usual. And a dog who just wants everyone to be quiet so he can sleep.
The first swipe of paint is so exciting! I used Rustoleum's chalkboard paint. Lots of drama for $10.
Here's a shot after two coats of paint.
The next step is to "season" the chalkboard. I hate this part, but it's got to be done. "Color" on the wall with the side of many pieces of chalk, first vertically and then horizontally.
Erase your seasoning for that beautiful schoolhouse chalkboard look. I wanted to leave plenty of surface for writing, but couldn't resist a small gallery of plates. And a basket to corral mail clutter.
