The yard I created at my mobile home. The main focal point is the butterfly garden.
I replaced brown grass & mud with a raised flower bed, patio & flower beds. Nearly every plant benefits the butterfly, as it is either a nectar or host plant. I added a walkway and white rocks for a clean look & to make it really pop. All of the hard work is worth it to me when I get compliments from friends & neighbors passing by.
One would be hard pressed to wake up to this environment every morning without a smile and sense of wonder. You have created a very lovely garden, and it is flourishing through your hands.
Thank you you so much everyone for all of the wonderful coments, you all have made me feel so good! I appreciate it so much, I worked so hard on ths, & I'm glad others are enjoying it too! I have more pics on my Flowers in Bloom page, here is the link
DeAnna - I just revisited your FB page - AGAIN!! You raised baby butterflies too - how magical. I'm just amazed and so impressed with how skillfully you have managed to cram so much in a relatively small space and it looks superb. You sure did attract lots of butterflies. I'm definitely going to work on some different flower types next year.
Susan thank you so much, & thank you for visiting my Flowers in Bloom page! I appreciate your comments so much! I'm planning for next year, I'll be expanding, planting more host & nectar plants to attract more butterflies with a focus on attracting more Swallowtails. Thank you for your support Susan!
Thamks Marg. I still have some space in the main flower garden, this pic is the border between the 2 yards. I also have some space on the side of the shed. I'm going to try to attract more swallowtails, they passed by but I didn't see them stop to feed, unless they were here while I was at work which is possible. I have more butterfly pics on my Flowers in Bloom page.
Thank you so much, Lillace Christianson! I appreciate your nice coments about my yard! It was a lot of hard work, & when I hear such lovely things, it makes it all worth while! I have more pics on my Facebook page, called Flowers in Bloom. Here is the link:
How beautiful. I love what you have done in such a small space. Your pictures made me yearn for spring time. I'm ready for the hummingbirds and butterflies.
Thank you Kelly S, I appreciate that so much! It's been a lot of hard wok, I'm making changes this year to attract more butterflies. Thos iste put the cat in there, I tried to remove him becuz that's not my cat! But he is a cutie, so he's there to stay. Please vivt my page on butterfly gardening on face book, it's called Flowers in Bloom. Here is the link:
Thanks Peg, positive coments like this keep me going! It's been a lot of hard work, but it's all been worth it. I'm making chages this year, & working on getting certified as an international way station for the Monarch, & getting certifed as a Butterfly habitat. I'll have more updates on my facebook page, Flowers in Bloom.
Your gardens are so beautiful. If I was a butterfly I would leave my yard to stay with you. I'm helping the Monarch by planting a lot of milkweed but now I know I need more flowers for the lovely butterflies.
Thank you for your nice comments Sherrie S, I'm glad to hear you are planting Milkweed too. If we all do our part, we can work together to ensure the survival of the butterfly!
Thank you Kathy, I'm anxious for spring too! I'm glad you get humingbirds, probably the Ruby Throated since you're in Ill too. I'm trying to attract them, they come to a neighboring county, I've researched them & have many of their food sources here, I hope they find my yard!
Thank you Mary Beth! I appreciate that so much! I worked really hard on it, I replaced most of the lawn with native plants. Please visit my face book page for more pics!
