Prices vary from state to state and area to area. But prices will range anywhere from $.80 to $2.00 per foot. Prices range because of many factors. Size of project, (someone is not going to install a room for under a $100 and take most of the day to do it.) The condition of the existing floor prior to install. (rough floors take longer to prep, This raises the cost of the installation,) Quality of the install. ( you will see install prices at the big box stores, but when you look closer, these prices do not include, trim removal, floor prep, undercutting door jambs, trim replacement. All the things that make the floor look good as compared to those that do not,) Your best bet is to have a flooring contractor come in, look at the project, describe exactly what he or she will do and provide a price. But figure on the high side of the number if you want a professional look. last thing to remember. Contractors also work up profits into markups on materials. If you purchase those materials and cut out the profits, you will find your numbers for install will be higher overall. I know as a contractor I charge more for materials purchased by the owner and charge them extra if I have to correct issues caused by poor product supplied. Its best to have them supply and install all worked up in one cost. Overall its less money.
