Removing Water Stains From Wooden Window Frames

The moisture accumulated and stained our window sills. I tried scrubbing, bleaching and sanding with no luck. Finally found a solution by letting paper towel soaked with lemon juice sit on the sill overnight. The picture shows a test patch with the stain gone.
