Turn An Old Suitcase Into a Picnic Basket

Jonathan Fong
by Jonathan Fong
I had this old suitcase in the garage collecting dust, so I gave it a new life as a picnic basket. All it took was some paint on the outside, some new fabric inside, and some elastic bands for plates and cups.
The exterior of the suitcase was pretty disgusting, which is why I never used it, even as a prop. So I cleaned it and painted it.

I also ripped out all the lining on the inside and replaced it with new fabric and trimming.
And I staple gunned some elastic on the top compartment to hold plates, cups and flatware.

I have a couple of old suitcases that were my grandfathers. This would be an amazing project to do with them.

This looks fantastic - you always such an excellent eye for color, and this is no exception!
