Clearance Table Makeover With Paint and Pushpins

$10

Last summer (August of 2013, to be precise), I found this table on clearance at Target for $7 and change. I scooped it up because I knew it would be a perfect side table for my basement . . . but not in its original pink and white state!
Fast forward to earlier this spring. I finally took it out of the box and got to work. I spray painted the legs an antiqued bronze color. Then I got the *genius* idea to draw a herringbone pattern on the table top with a bronze Sharpie. It looked HORRIBLE. (You can find a link to photos of this mistake in the blog post at the bottom of this page.)
After recovering from the Sharpie disaster, I painted the table top with neutral greige chalk paint, and sealed it with paste wax. The table looked better than the pink and white version, but it needed something else.
Luckily, I found these super cool pushpins on a subsequent trip to Target. They were too pretty for regular paper, so I thought they'd be perfect for my table! I used a nail to make holes along the edge of the table, and then I pushed the pushpins into the holes and used them as pseudo-nailhead detailing.
I think the pushpins added just enough interest to the table to make it look like it cost at least $10. :-) What do you think?
