Very nice -
Did you paint the island?! Your kitchen is gorgeous! -
LISA! I just went to your blog and realized it was you! Your kitchen looks amazing :) So awesome to see you here. -
You hooked me at $50 island remodel. I had to know how you did it. Very impressive. -
When I first glanced at the picture of your island and the cooktop - I thought it was a "floating" something-or-the-other. The island is so shiny and with the contrast of the stainless it created kind of an optical illusion. Haven't read your blog YET, but I definitely will. This turned out beautifully and apparently very economical too!! -
Yep it's me Miriam! -
Steve, we bought a sheet of beadboard and cut it to fit over the existing panels on the island. We carefully removed the existing trim so we could reuse it. We painted it with leftover paint and then glazed it. With costs for the beadboard, finishing nails, adhesive, and new switch plate covers is was right around $50. I also spraypainted the existing knobs so we wouldn't have to purchase those as well. -
How did you redo your countertops? What products? Love it! -

Wow thats awesome and at $50.00 even better -
thats not really a fair statement, you clearly changed the backsplash and got new countertops. did you paint the light fixture or replace it? -
I'm about to take on my own kitchen makeover & you have certainly inspired me!!! -
I love the look of beadboard. -
Thanks Judy! -
Love your island! It's amazing the frugal transformations you can make with beadboard and paint. Also, the rest of your kitchen makeover is just lovely. Great job! ~Heather -
Here is the post on exactly how we did it. http://www.beforemeetsafterblog.com/2012/01/... -

I re-did my kitchen two years ago. I put bead board around my Island and on the lower half of the walls. I also put bead board on the walls between the base cabinets and the wall cabinets. The lower walls are a bright green and the upper walls are a lighter green with white trim in between. The kitchen is nice and bright. I have had many compliments. I have no back splash behind the sink because there is a large window there. -
Where did you find the paisley fabric that you used for your curtains
