How to Make a Used Paint Brush Think It Is New!

The 2 Seasons
by The 2 Seasons
Are you sick of buying new paint brushes and then throwing them away after one use? I was too until I learned this great tip. Now I can use the same paint brush over and over because I learned a tip that makes it as good as new.
I have used this paint brush for seven different projects, and yet it looks and feels as if it is new. I added one simple step to the cleaning process that means I no longer have to toss out a paint brush after I use it just one time.
This is what the same paint brush looked like after I used it to paint a kitchen bench blue.
Since I used latex paint, I washed all of the paint off with water.
Now, this is the step that makes all of the difference. I added a few tablespoons of fabric softener to a bowl of water.
Next, I soaked the clean paint brush in the solution for a few minutes. Then I just rinsed it off and let it air dry. The next morning it felt and looked like a brand new brush.

Awesome! Does the fabric softener affect how the paint to sticks to the bristles?
