Critter has a burrow in my veggie garden. How do I humanely evict it?

Question

I have a ground hog, mole or skunk (maybe a raccoon but I don't think they have under ground burrows) that is eating my lettuce, spinach and greens. It's taunting my large tom cat by pooping in his favorite places (eww!) and they're huge & smelly. So whatever it is, it's probably bigger than 18 lbs (the size of my cat). What should I do?

Our local zoo recommended moth balls for our skunk problem. They moved out and didn't come back. Not sure about using them in your garden,though.

raccoons do not burough underground, but they do like your vegies and they do have a smelly poop. they will poop on their opponent to make him go away and to mark territory. they are attracted by bird seed, garbage and love to dig in flower pots where a seaweed, crab meal plant food has been used. Big Moma even dug up a 2' barrel cactus trying to find the crabs that were not there. when moma stand up, her head is even with the door knob. we moved our bird seed inside because they got in the galvanized garbage can. she left grooves from her teeth and claws on the door know and we had to replace it.
