    I have been doing this for a few years....our favorite is to use a soy based wax designed for "containers". We use eco soy cb135.

    Did this in Girl Scouts (won't say how many years ago). Lots of fun. Whip the wax till simi-solid, then 'frost' the outside. We made square ones in milk cartons.
