Anyone know how I can drill a screw in to a tile without cracking the whole tile?

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Aug 08, 2014You need to drill the tile with a special drill bit designed to be used on tile. Its an inexpensive drill bit. If you know that you will be using a long enough screw to fasten to wood behind, not drywall or cement board. Simply use a bit large enough so the screw fits through the hole. If your using this on a wall or where you know there is nothing behind the tile that will hold a screw, they make plastic anchor kits. These come in different sizes. A plastic plug is pushed into the hole that you drill with the bit that comes with the kit, then you simply install the screw into that. Doing it any other way will crack the tile.Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Aug 08, 2014Look for anything labeled diamond bit (masonry) and they will also say they will go through tile, glass, brick, concrete etc. And there be sure to keep the drill bit cool with water while you are drilling it.Helpful Reply
