We took our doors into the glass shop and they measured for us. $8 a piece, what a deal!

Very cool. This seems like a pretty daunting project, but you make it look easy. I don't know if I would ever do this, though. People would see the piles of mismatched mugs and pin glasses jammed in my cabinets, and the piles of stained cookbooks, etc.

If your doors are already a "raised panel" design with a true floating panel insert it is even easier as all you need to do is cut away the back 1/4" of the dado's lip. Then the panel will just drop out.

@steve one way to hide your mismatched cups is to use textured glass.

We did the same but, but as Steve G. said, I didn't want the inside of my sometimes messy cabinets to show, so we replaced the inter panels with frosted plexiglass. Turned out very pretty.

My husband made new door frames and we put art glass in them. It defuses the light but the objects are still visible.
