What is this? Never seen one of these till I ran into its web on my deck. The wide body looks like a cylinder with a point on the bottom. There was a web where it was moving from one pint to another. Thanks in advance. I live in Piedmont, NC.

If it's not poisonous, I'd let it hang out. It probably eats flies, mites, etc. Have an old house and have spiders. I don't kill them for this reason.

That is a very scary looking spider. I would first yell and then run then get the raid and stand back and spray it plenty. LOL

Holy crap. I'd have to burn the house down for that one, and I'm not usually wiggy about bugs. Gah.

It will definitely scare ALL the other pests away...including mice, squirrels, and possibly annoying relatives!!! lol

I have a HUGE fear of spiders, so this would not last long in my home.... I would not be able to dial the exterminator's phone # fast enough! I can handle most any other kind of bug(except cockroaches), but spiders??? I'm moving out till they get rid of them...

What kind of spider is it eeks
  • Oh goodness gracious. This is WHY you keep a spare glass jar (so you can see if you trap the darn thing), and a dustpan HANDY! Plop the glass jar or coffee can over the offending spider or bug, carefully slide the dustpan underneath and then take outside to dispose. Or if you are THAT creeped out, put the can or jar on top then something heavy so it doesn't escape and then call your neighbor, best friend, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend to come dispose of it for you. Problem solved. Yes, I am nature girl, try not to kill anything, and afraid of nothing. Hope this helps someone out there! :-)
