Cabinets

I have these old home made kitchen cabinets, I cannot afford to get new ones so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to refurbish the doors I have already painted them numerous times and changed the hardware, but now I need something more drastic! Is there any way I can do the fronts of the doors like panel them, to make them look new without the cost??

I like your cabinets. The only thing I would comment on is the hardware seems too light weight for the size of the doors.

Your cabinets are great and need nothing more, so I think the problem is your hardware. A sleek brushed chrome would look better. Try a darker finish too to see how it looks. I think the white on white keeping you from getting that "kick" you are looking for!

Your cabinets look home-made (in a good way) so I would choose a rustic, maybe iron-finish hardware.

  • Your hardware definitely needs changed. Black hardware. You need some black in the kitchen. I would think about cutting out the doors on top and using glass, fabric, metal, or something creative to jazz up the cabinets. You could also paint the cabinets again but this time use an expresso or even a gray to add some depth to the kitchen. White is not doing them justice at all. I would even think about dark gray on bottom with a lighter gray on top to give some dimension to your kitchen. Definitely spray paint that metal work you have in the first picture too to match the hardware. hope this gives you more ideas...good luck

thank u for the tips, I was thinking about changing the color to a light brown or expresso and painting in inside panels white and changing the hardware to bronze or chrome. I had thought about cutting out the panels as u suggested, on just the upper doors and putting glass or something like that, but that was expensive to do I have to keep some white in the cabinets, because I have new cabinet on the other side of the kitchen and they are white laminate.. that is all I could do without buying all new cabinest which I cannot afford.I am limited as to what I can do because of my age and I want to what i can myself. ty Dee
    • @Dee Mizzero I would check out wallpaper! find some wallpaper that you could cut out and put in the recessed areas. this would really dress up the white if you need to leave them. but changing the hardware to something bigger and bolder-i was taught a long time ago by a designer that all rooms need a touch of black-check out Home Depot they have some cool hardware! or you could actually spray paint what you have. I love Rustoleum 2x spray but if you want a more metal look then I would use primer and paint them with hammered spray paint in rubbed bronze, or a dark metallic
