Lately I've been collecting little bottles (even picking them out of garbage dumps) and prettying them up with paint, lace, and even tissue paper. You can see more photos of my latest altered bottles on my blog.
T & C - I love old bottles, especially w/the raised lettering. They have such character and neat shapes. Hey, SOMEBODY has to keep these beauties outta the dumps!! LOL
Just took a sneak peek @ your blog - Ohhhhh My Gosh - YOU are my kinda girl!!! And I found out your name too!! Soooooo, Jennifer, I DO have some questions about the stenciling you did on your dining rm. corner cabinet glass - WHERE should I post my question (s)??? I guess the logical place is on the blog??? ;~)
Well, I was just wondering if you used regular paint or paint formulated specifically for glass? Are you able to clean the glass w/glass cleaner or what. And, did you stencil on the inside or the outside of the glass??? I'm looking at what you did and I have a large pane of glass in my storm door that just keeps calling out to me . . . . LOL
I love your bottles . . .have you ever tried polyclay? I re-purpose bottles and jars using it and also like to use the glass paints on them . . so many things you can do!
Susan S, I love your spirit! I stenciled on the inside of the glass using an acrylic paint designed for stenciling. When I clean the glass, I have to clean around the paint (which is why I stenciled the inside ... it doesn't get dirty or as dusty as the outside). I think your storm door would be a perfect stencil project!
Well, one thing about it - if you get tired it it, you could probably just wash it off w/a little elbow grease - or a paint scraper if it gets stubborn. I really like the paint idea because if you want to change the stencil you're not permanently committed to one design And, if it does get scratched it would be easy to touch up!! Hummmm . . . . .here goes another bright idea on my TUDU list!!!
Terri cardinal-brooke - come to my Facebook page and have a look at some of my pics . .Polymer clay is a low heat baking clay that you can do some really awsome things with . . .I am still discovering new ideas with it! a great place to check out is
you can find this clay at most craft stores as well. You can also integrate many "found objects" into your designs and in some cases use paper as you are doing now . . baking the clay on a low heat will not burn the paper! There are many websites that will give you free ideas and how to' for this stuff here is another one . . http://polymerclaycentral.com/ - have fun! Sorry you were not able to access the sites . . you can try typing in Polymer clay and do a search . . . I wish I had some better pics!
