If you have a cat that sprays, get used to this! Just wait until he sprays your walls, basebords and furniture!

One of my 2 cats (both neutered males) had taken to painting all of my walls, furniture, and anything else he could reach. I was horrified when I got a UV light. He never did that in all of the 9 years I've had him and didn't when I got him a buddy (they love each other and did so right away) but when a strange black cat started showing up outside both of my cats went nuts and the older one (9) started his wall painting, as well as the curtains out in the kitty room. I couldn't keep up with it.

My cats are indoor cats so it's not like the stray is actually going to get in here but they both hate him (and he is weird...my neighbor's cats hate him too). I've tried cleaning with a pet urine enzyme and then spraying some "No More Spraying" but that hasn't worked. He's a sneaky little bugger too; he waits until he thinks I'm not looking and then does it. He's learned that the minute I see him backing his butt up to something he gets yelled at.

It wasn't until I found "Cat Spraying No More" that I was able to finally get rid of this tiresome behavior.

Now my house doesn't smell like a litter box anymore :)

Kids N Pets is an awesome enzyme based solution you can get from WalMart. I have a bottle or two on hand at all times. Remember to shake the bottle well and soak the area... Wait a few minutes before wiping. Retreat if necessary.

Thank you Michelle, I have not seen that. I'll be heading there in the morning.

I agree with Jeannette. That cat won't stop doing it....enerything in the house is gonna get it. Check with the vet about neutering the cat, and if he's already neutered, you've got a decision to make about the future of that cat. My boy cat sprayed the walks, doors, and thing sitting on the floor. Anything metal was etched by the ursine and rusted. My sewing machine...my luggage...my laundry basket full of clean clothes!! He finally got converted to a well cared for, outdoor-only kitty.

Yes Debra, outdoor only now! If hubby had his way......:(. But he doesn't. Lol

Since you've gotten some good answers about your sofa, I have some thoughts on your cat: Is this a sudden change in his behavior? Fixed males generally urinate in conspicuous places for two reasons, behavioral and physical. Any changes to the household? Is his litter box kept clean? Does he seem to have any discomfort while urinating? If he seems in pain, a trip to the vet is warranted because he may have urinary crystals. I hope this information is helpful to you.

I have had animals my whole life...mom worked for a vet for 26 years. Lol! Never had this happen with any neutered cat ever! :(

Pick up an enzyme based cleaning solution - there are ones out there especially for cats and clean the couch thoroughly. It's odd that a neutered male would suddenly start spraying. Take him to the vet to make sure there isn't a bladder infection going on. Then add another litter box in a different location. He may not be liking the other one. Make sure both are scooped out every day. Good luck!

cats are sensitive to any change and if you have had a change in the enviroment in the house say another animal or even another male in the house, try the vet to see if he has anything wrong as suggested. I have a neutered boy and he sprayed when we had an entire male in the house but seems to have stopped since we took the entire male out to the cattery. as sugested enzime products are good but if he is set in his ways and it is not medical then yes he may have to be an outside cat

Be careful what you put on your leather sofa. When ever you put something on leather it stains....even water. Just saying...
