Securing an old door to the wall
-
Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Aug 11, 2014you can use picture wire and hooks and hang the door like a picture. If you want it flat, drill on the side edge of the door install hooks that line up with wall studs. Then drill and install long screws into the wall leaving them out enough to catch the hooks on the side of the door. Just do not drill on the face sides of the door. Much stronger on the edge and easier to fix later on if you end up using them.Helpful Reply

Colleen Schake on Mar 17, 2015I wouldn't trust picture hanging hardware on a heavy door. I'd use screws on the end corners and cable like in the new deck rails. Then 2 secure screws on the wall to securley hold.Helpful Reply

Anne Wight on Mar 17, 2015What am amazing find~!! Because of the weight you will want to secure it to the studs. Ask a carpenter for suggestions. It would be a disaster to have it fall and injure someone as the glass is most likely not shatter proof.Helpful Reply
