-Keep the thermostat set at 78 degrees F or higher if using ceiling fans. Don't air-condition unused rooms.
-Clean your A/C's air filter every month during cooling season. Normal dust build-up can reduce air flow by 1 percent per week.
-Turn off your A/C when you leave for more than an hour.

Steve, that is quite a dilemma. Hope you're safe from the smoke & fire. What ARE you doing for the heat?
Steve G, hopefully the heatwave will pass quickly. Stay safe out there with the wildfires and everything.
Thankfully we don't have to worry about that anymore - for now. Basically, during the height of the wildfires, the smoke levels varied a lot depending on the wind and the fire conditions. It was rare that you could smell or see smoke for a full 24 hours, but when I could see and smell smoke outside my house, I closed up all the windows, and I would draw the shades to keep the heat to a ...»
There were a couple of nights that got pretty hot, and I know the tyke was uncomfortable. There were some days we escaped to Denver for the day, too. I think perhaps the hardest part for me was not bring able to bike right at the peak of biking season. But when I went out on a morning ride and was choking on smoke as I started to pedal hard, I realized it probably wasn't a good idea.
However we also are having hot weather and many fires from lightning.

@AK..we dont normally have this much HUMIDITY here, for maybe 3 weeks end of June beginning July tops, but this year, it is really getting me down. it just goes on and on,
any tips on handling the humidity ? I seem to be especially affected since heart surgery.
And no, there are enough freaky people in Denver that pink hair barely registers around here.
