Outdoor cushion

I have a bench that I am having a hard time finding a cushion I like for. It is under a covered part of the house entrance however, during rain storms (which can be daily in south Florida) it can get wet. Am I able to get foam from a fabric store and cover it. If so do I need to do any extra precautions outside of getting outdoor fabric?

If the area is getting a daily soaking you might be better off to put your outdoor cushions in some sort of water tight container outside by your bench so they can be accessed and used easily. Even a shower curtain fabric will get mouldy if it is constantly wet. If you use shower curtain fabric you might need to wash it in bleach regularly to get the mould off. If not rinsed properly, bleach can transfer to clothing and cause damage.

They now make a spray that makes items repel water. It can be used on fabrics and many other types of items. Sorry I have forgotten the name. Have seen it sold in the paint sections if hardware stores. I have vinyl cushions on my covered porch. I do leave them out most of the year but do take them in in the winter months. Have held up very well the last 3 years.
