Ugly, Old Dresser to Wine Storage

My sister in law dropped off 2 of these "lovely" dressers for me. I almost said thanks but no thanks but my second thought was that these dressers would be a great challenge. The dressers were made of solid wood, dove tailed corners, very sturdy so they were worth the effort.
The dresser had a thick coat of dark green enamel paint that was chunky and needed a lot of help. I started by scraping off the chunks of paint with a paint scraper to give it a smooth, though still ugly finish.
I removed the drawers and the knobs, then gave the piece a coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite. The chalk paint covered the ugly green enamel perfectly.
In place of the top drawer I added a shelf and a removable wine rack from my stash of thrift store finds... the wine rack fit perfectly.
I painted the wine rack and the inside and out of the remaining 2 drawers in Arles, a soft yellow color. New simple, black knobs were perfect for this piece. Castors were added to the bottom creating rolling storage that can be moved where needed for entertaining.

The bottom drawers are a great place to store wine and bar accessories. The results of this make-over even amazed myself... the finish on this piece is gorgeous and the yellow and black combination is perfect. Cheers!
