Welcome Bench

Our entryway is quite small and has very little room for much of anything. It is also quite blah and I wanted to brighten it up a bit so that it would be something cheerful and welcoming when coming into our house. We had this little white bench that I had gotten years ago and really had no place for it in this home so it was just hanging out in the garage. One day as I was perusing a MacKenzie Child's site I got the idea to paint this little bench in a similar style and use it in the entryway.
I first painted it with black chalkboard paint. Then I taped off an area around the top of the seat to make a black and white check border along with a small area to stencil the word welcome.
I then outlined each of the squares with a gold paint pen and around some of the other areas to set them off.
I decided to distress this a bit - not too much and then gave it a coat of wax with Johnson's Minwax.
It now welcomes all our guests along with this cute little bunny. I love how it took this entry from plain and blah to something fun and cheerful to greet us when we come home. To find out more details please check out the URL below.
