Thanks for these suggestions! Found a little Caladium for a small iron planter:)) After I have ...»
household moved in and have time to work on patio area, I will be addressing the area under a huge tree. Can't wait to check out all your suggestions, especially August Moon hosta that Douglas mentioned and the "Sweetbox" that Erica mentioned.

This is a fabulous forum and I thank you Erica, Emily and Douglas!

Gardening: Do Jasmine plants need special soil mix? I need to repot. Are they supposed to be in a large pot or have a cozy fit?

A mix that is well drained (holes in bottom of pot) with 1/3 organic material, 13/coarse sand ...»
and 1/3 potting soil is great. A small amount of clay is ok for holding moisture.

The pot size should be only 1 or 2 at the most sizes larger than the size of the container your jasmine is growing in. Keep the soil level the same as the container it is currently growing in., Build up the soil from the bottom and sides. Don't dump a lot of extra soil on top of the pot. Do add mulch after you plant.
