HOw to finish carpet edges

I still need runners down the hallway. If I got a piece from a roll of carpet or used what we have left over from this recent install, how woud I finish off the edges? Is there an easy way? No sewing please!

Hi Bernice! My understanding is that you can take your piece of carpet to a carpet store and have them "bind" the edges for you so that you can use it as a runner. I'm not sure the actual cost of that but since you already have the carpet it shouldn't be too much. I would compare it to buying a pre-made runner though as well. There are lots of great options for stair runners online! ~Vanessa

There are some iron on a glue based "binding tapes" that might work

Thanks Kevin, that was interesting. Something to think about. But maybe a 'cheaper" idea?

By the way, I hope you got my thank you for leading me to the vinyl planking. Installer friend said "good choice", he is not a fan of laminate, said I will be much happier much longer than with laminate. So thank you, it finally got done!

But what a show around here for almost 2 weeks, lots of junk got gone! We "done good". but we ...»

worked hard and fast, Joe (installer)surprised me by coming over 5 days after hubs said Lets do it! And 3 of those days we went to the Oregon Coast, prepaid trip! But i survived. I am happy withthe whole thing, but do want to mention everything shows on the "wood look". I had whitish floor before with confetti looking stuff, nothing showed. Now I see water drops, coffee drips, carpet string etc. but i am getting used to it!

    Thanks again .....and stay safe!
