How do you keep it from being destroyed? Here in FL its always raining & the sun is just treacherous! Any time I use wood outdoors, it lasts about 5 months. Any ideas for this FL weather & keeping wood furniture together?
It is in full sun and standing up beautiful to the elements. In fact I honestly thought it would be MORE patina'd by now. I know my brother lives in COLORADO and he has to use very very high quality types of outdoor protectent on his outdoor decks and furniture. If you go to a quality paint store they will be able to tell you how well things are gonna stand up in the Florida sun.
love what you've done, I see entertainment centers in my thrift shop and have thought of using one to store craft supplies. Love the color & repurposing.
Terrific idea. My daughter told me a few days ago she would be getting rid of hers, and now I will claim it rather than a burn pile. Thank you for sharing.
I love this - and was wondering about the weather-worthiness of doing something like it here in Massachusetts. Do you think if treated properly (I saw your recommendation to talk to the paint guy to get the right treatment) it could be a New England piece, and maybe just covered with a tarp for the winter?
We use Behr premium plus ULTRA exterior paint and it holds up so well outside in the sun and rain. You can get it at any Home Depot - it is the best paint ever. It is a paint and primer in one.
This looks like it belongs there just for that use. I have an old particle board one that has to stay inside of course. I put some old caster wheels on it and roll it around the garage as it is used for moveable storage. I like what you have done here.
Just the other day I said to my husband"I wish I could find a good re-use for all the used entertainment centers people try to get rid of........OMG you hit the nail on the head girlfriend!
I love the color as well, but any color from nature would work I think, don't you?Beautiful job!!
Reading these comments has me thinking that I will move mine into the garage and put caster wheels on it since it is so heavy and hard to move. It will be so nice to contain all those miscellaneous items. Painting it will make it look so much better too. Thanks everyone, especially Jim Jakes for the idea of the castors.
