Your countertops look awesome. How do you get them to shine so much and does the homeowner have to maintain the luster with a special product? My brother is looking to install a concrete counter like this one.
Thank you! No, they do not require any special care or maintenance, just take care of them and dont abuse them. The shine comes from making extremely dense concrete and how they are finished, We could make them have a mirror shine but this is about as shiny as i like to go. I think a more satin matte finish looks best.
Jan, they do look busy in the pictures but its nothing like that seeing it in person. The funny thing is they had a realtor come yesterday, its going on the market. We did all this to help the place sell quicker. I hope it sells soon, i am ready to do the countertops for their next home.
I love the vertical slab on the end cabinet. Just curious, is that actually mitered and glued? I've never seen concrete done for a vertical surface...beautiful job!
Love the concrete countertops and sink! I have a similar backsplash in my kitchen with white tile countertops and sink. They are very hard to keep clean and in bad need of an update. Think I'll check out concrete.....can u give an idea of the cost?
I like the counter tops but I agree about the backsplash looking too busy. We are in the process of updating our kitchen and have brought back samples to try to coordinate and have found that the tile like this just is too busy to go with our granite. I thought I'd love that look and am afraid now it will be trendy and in another 5 years buyers will say it is "outdated". Who know. The over all look here is great.
@Becky, it is sealed so that protects the concrete, however concrete may absorb on the surface but even unsealed, they are way too dense for water to penetrate. look at all the bird baths, pools, fountains, etc. they dont leak and they are not as dense as the concrete we are making.
@Peggy, It depends on how much you make.
@Leslie, The whole bar top is one piece, the vertical doesnt need anything else.

@Sue, there are so many variables that go into pricing. Expect to pay at least $60 Sq.Ft.
@Cheryl, yes they can be any color you can think of, look at my profile picture its white and blue.
@Bob, i wouldnt put an acrylic or any other topical sealer on a countertop. Scratching is not the only thing you have to be careful of with an acrylic sealer..... Try dropping some alcohol on them and the scratch will be the least of your concerns. Who did your countertops, how old are they? Acrylic used to be about the only thing available for sealing concrete countertops.
Do you sell the mix? We make pots, fountains and fire bowls, however when we moved into our house 10 years ago my husband made us a concrete counter top, not cast more like plaster application. NOW, we are finally redoing the kitchen, and he wants to make a new counter top this time cast. We are quite far away from you. We don't want to compete too busy with the landscape stuff, just would love to have one in my kitchen. Do you do any combination with glass?
CC, too much to type here so email me or call me and i can give you details. No, i dont sell the mix, it is not a bagged mix i make it myself. But i can tell you what to get, how to use it, and where to get the admixtures from. Its a different beast than any other concrete you have probably used but the final product is worth the learning curve. Yes i use glass, many times i wont use silica sand at all, i just use glass sand. My mix bonds extremely well to glass, actually bonds better to
