Father's Day gift for my geeky husband.

I converted our outside, basement door into the Tardis. (The time machine from Doctor Who) It's the perfect entrance for his "man cave". I had some help with the power tools and details.

The first color try. I didn't like it so I took it back in and they fixed it for free.

The sign. I cut out letters and taped them on. Then I lightly sprayed with black paint. It took several coats.

After the right number of coats of paint I removed the paper letters.

The final sign after the white touch up.

Hanging the sign. We secured it right into the brick. The trim on the metal door was screwed right in too.

Doctor Who always parks his tardis in the most unusual places. My husband LOVED IT!!!! So did his geek friends. :)

WOW! This is just awesome! we LOVE Dr Who! How did you make the windows on the door? Did you just block off the area so it stayed white when you painted the rest blue, and then draw in the lines between the panes? This is just an awesome idea!!!

Yes, Sharron. I had primed the door white and then painted all the trim blue. I put a coat of white paint in the approximate area for the windows so when we attached the trim I just had to do a little fine touch up with the white. I basically free handed the lines. I am pleased how they turned out.

Very clever of u to have thought of doing something like this to this outside basement door as the whole motif serves as a security measure for hubby as people respect that blue color and also what is on the sign. WHAT AN AWESOME, AND PRETTY JOB YOU HAVE MADE FOR HUBBY ON FATHER'S DAY, LINDA.
