The garden is now in transition. This has been an unusually cooler summer here in the south...until this week! We're slated to have days in the high 90's with the usual hazy-hot-humid conditions and afternoon thunderstorms. I share what's working well in my southern garden
This Chrysanthemum is just beginning to open and bloom alongside summer's flowers - crape myrtle, snapdragon, vinca, and geraniums
Knockout roses are a definite winner for any garden blooming well into the autumn season
Crape Myrtles, roses, petunias and geraniums bring exuberant color to the front garden
If I could only have one flower in my garden - it could be the geranium - I love it's cottage charm
Blackeye Susans are a sure hit for a southern cottage garden
Purple Coneflower - even when fading looks marvelous in a cottage garden
The crabapples are beginning to ripen
the blooms are getting smaller as the season moves along- but these beauties still producing wonderfully
This rose is a charming addition to my garden - blooms prolifically
I love this shrub rose - It stays green and full all summer - the rose hips are fascinating!

I'd love to know how you keep the crape myrtle from chocking everything else out!

@Patsycolleen Hello Patsy. I've not had problems with the way the Crape Myrtle grows. We do get a lot of babies and either give them away or spread them through the garden. We do keep them trimmed up with the majority of the folliage at the top. I hope this helps

Such a beautiful garden! What is that shrub rose? I love the multi-petaled, peony like, flower!
