Short woman, tall walls........how can I paint these rooms?

Question

All the room are slanted into a cathedral ceiling.  I can get up some on a small ladder or footstool but it would be too dangerous to try to get up very high.  The walls are white and I want to brighten up the rooms.  I can't afford to hire someone to do the work.  Any suggestions?

As they say, 'That's a good question'.
I know of no practical way of painting the wall all the way up without a ladder.  
One solution is to install a thin piece of trim moulding around the tall walls flat across at a normal ceiling height and then paint the new color below it.  
You mention the walls are white so if they are close to the ceiling color already, this trim idea might look pretty good.

We have the same issue in our upstairs bedroom, which I am painting this summer.  I am using two ladders with a 2x8 plank between them.  I used a similar system when painting our stairwell (ladder on landing and plant from steps to step of ladder). Worked well and I felt safe.

This is why I am glad I have regular height ceilings...particularly since I am of the age I cannot even think about getting up high to paint...trifocals make it even more dangerous.  Sometimes there are times when 'hiring a job done' is the least costly way!   think of the Dr. bills if you fall!  I refuse to do anything that puts us in danger!

Thanks for the answers, but I'm still hoping for more ideas.  I have thought about placing trim moulding on the tall parts of the wall at a normal ceiling height as suggested by Charles.  I guess I will have to find pictures to see how this would look.  My ceilings are also white.  Though my pic was taken several years ago, I am now in mid sixties and like Jeanette cannot get up too high on a ladder.

You could use an extension pole with a paint pad or roller, but you still may not be able to reach the very top. I would get on a step ladder and still use the pole but I'm still in my 50's. Do you have any family or a neighbor who might be able to help? Oh, just saw the date......sorry, I guess I'm a bit late, lol!
