plant identification

Can anyone tell me what this squash/melon is? I have two of these mystery vines in the backyard and don't exactly like them in my flower beds but can't get rid of them until I know if they are producing something I want to eat!

It looks like to me Kim a spaghetti squash, if you cut it off the vine and cut it in half it should look like spaghetti noodles. It is very good and very edible if that is what it is.

Yes, volunteers. I thought they looked like spaghetti squash as well but I haven't ever planted any. This is in a new area where I brought in compost that I purchased.

Have you tried cutting them open or tasting them?

It looks like spaghetti squash to me, too! It's yummy! they look almost matured. Cut in half (sometimes hard to cut-thick skinned) and bake with butter until soft. Very good for you.

Just had a big plate of ......spaghetti squash! I was thrown off because it wasn't yellow like what I have purchased from the grocery store. Thanks!
