How do I stain my patio to look like hardwood?

I saw this in a picture somewhere and wondered how difficult it would be and how much it would cost. It mentioned something about scoring the concrete.

Its far from a DIY project if you want it to look good and last. Scoring is taking a saw(made for concrete) and cutting the surface (scoring) in the lines or pattern you want.

yeah for what your wanting thats the best bet. Theres no erasing and starting over if you mess up.

another possible option is a stamped overlay...this can then be stained. I have seen this mostly done as a "tile" look but wood grain is another option. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=ue1bi95k4Y4&NR=1
