Can someone tell me where the yellowing stains on white clothes come from, and how to get rid of them?

Where are the stains on your clothing, what were you doing when you noticed the stains? Those questions and photos of your clothing and their stains would greatly help in finding an answer. depending on the type of fabric, it's probably bleach causing the stains. Only use hydrogen peroxide on fabric for stains, chlorine bleach creates more problems than it solves.

If there are smokers in the house, that is your problem. I could not believe how clean the paint stays now that there are no smokers in the house! I have thrown away so many clothes because it gets into the closets too!
