Removing mildew/mold from antique funiture

I inherited a hutch and buffet, and they both have mold/mildew problems. I used Scotts Liquid Gold, but the mildew came back. Is there a budget-friendly product to remove mildew permanently, and is safe for my cats?

Maybe @Home Repair Tutor or @Matthew Gingerella can help? They've posted some great things on cleaning tips!

@Hannah V - Thank you for thinking of me. @Laura - the key to getting rid of mold and mildew is to kill it and its spores. Killing mold/mildew requires one or more disinfectants. To kill mold/mildew on furniture you will also need to use a disinfectant that won't damage or discolor the surface; so do not use bleach. Common effective disinfectants that you may already have around the house are Distilled White Vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide. Test them in a small discreet area on the furniture to make sure that they do not cause any discoloring or damage prior to use. Good luck, Matthew

@@Laura where is the mold and mildew depends a lot on how you can care for it. Second be careful what type of polish you use on antique furniture some will ruin certain antiques rather than help.
