Exteriors Painting

Does anyone have experience using Sherwin Williams VinylSafe exterior paint for vinyl siding?

We have light tan vinyl siding on 3 sides of our house. I'd like to darken it but I've read that dark colors on vinyl can buckle it. SW website says that their VinylSafe paint won't buckle. I'd love some feedback from actual homeowners who have used it.

If you paint vinyl any dark color it will expand at a greater rate with sun exposure then a lighter color will.

Read the disclaimer. It will not buckle, the paint or the siding? As long as your not going real dark there should not be to much to worry about. But you can expect more creaking noises when the sun hits the siding then it does now assuming you have a lighter color siding now.

I've never painted Vinyl...around here our sun is pretty intense, and vinyl is pretty rare. Newer homes are being built with hardi-plank (higher end) and masonite (lower end). When I remodeled my place some years back I installed cedar siding which was stained.

As with any paint job proper prep...needs to be addressed. In the case of siding power washing and priming would be in the picture.

Thanks for the answers, but I'm still hoping for more feedback.

The only time we have painted vinyl siding is when the house is being resold. I love Sherwin Williams but no so sure about this product. Any dark color on vinyl is going to absorb heat and can lead to the siding buckling...depending on the quality and thickness of the vinyl. If you're going to be in the house forever, I'd change the siding out for hardiplank and paint it whenever you want!
