"Shedding Light" on an Easy-ish DIY - Fabric Flower Lampshade

We had a lamp. Yawn. It was a fine lamp. Ho-hum. But I wanted more. I wanted that lamp to scream "CHECK ME OUT! I'm FANTASTIC!"
Here was my lampshade BEFORE. Again, nothing was wrong. It's just that the magic was gone. I needed more from our relationship. I wanted flowers from my lampshade. So I made some. And you can too, if you'd like.

It's only about a 5-step process, which I've detailed in full over on the blog.

Just click the link at the bottom of this post if you want all the nitty gritty so you can try this, too!
Choosing the right fabric is key. Assembling the individual flowers is quick, but the process as a whole is time consuming because of the overall number needed for the shade.

Once you've assembled all your fabric flowers, they are simply affixed to the shade.

I love these lampshades. And although they have some stiff competition for attention in this room from our little chandelier, and of course, Bessie the cow...
I still think these DIY lampshades add some texture, depth and interest to this space. Hope you're inspired to try your hand at this project too! And if you do, let me know how it turns out!
