DIY Reclaimed Wood Bed

Some friends of mine were throwing away some wood from an old deck. So my husband and I snagged the wood and decided to make a bed. It took about an afternoon to build and a couple more days to stain and seal it to allow for drying time. We are totally in love with our free bed!

What a beautiful, rustic piece. And the wood was a good find. This bed would cost plenty if made professionally.

Just goes to show you that there is no such thing as 'Dead Wood' - it is amazing what you can do with old timber and this is one excellent example.

This is so incredible! What an upcycle project that looks like it should be in a magazine! I pinned this to the Hometalk pin board!

Looking at this now, the idea is so simple it should have popped out to all of us. Very clever.

Watch out for bugs. We were given some old fence boards, but I can see termite tracks, so no way is this wood coming close to the house!
