Annie Sloan Accessories and Creative Foils

Big White Goose

Managed to play just a little bit today in the studio. Been really busy setting up for the Advance Class coming up and that takes a bit of planning. This started out as a cheap bit of board. I used Dark Wax by Annie Sloan first. Then applied the Gold Size (glue) let dry. Then used these incredible foils and played until I got the rustic wood look with these incredible roses peeping through.
Close up- just from cheap board.
Finished effect.
Added more Gold Size in areas and added plain Silver Foil. The applied the craquleur to achieve the old aged effect. Dried the second part of the craquleur with a hair dryer because it was then warm to touch and slapped some dark wax on while it was warm. I did this because what it does is melt the wax and it acts as a glaze.
Voila. Love this. Thought you could do a few of these in various patterns and create fab wall art or apply on furniture. I have an old 30's dressing table I did this to. My new fav me thinks LOL. Happy Thursday.

I'm a little confused. That is foil wrapping paper? And how did you adhere the paper to the wood?

Michele, you may think this is foil wrapping paper but it is not. These are professional decorative metallic foils used by faux painters for effects. You see these foils on ceilings, walls, and other places where the decorative painter is trying to achieve a certain look. They are expensive and you cannot buy them in shops. If it was wrapping paper I could not achieve the look I was finally able to get. I have foils in burnt copper and other effects. I hope this helped with your confusion... I know it looks like wrapping paper, sorry it is not. Have a lovely weekend.
