I use Old English Lemon Oil to help soften the crud then use magic eraser sponge to very gently scrub it away. Remember to go with the wood grain... Never across... Then a good application with the lemon oil to finish

I use Murphy's Oil Soap all the time. It's the old fashioned cleaner. It's also good to clean leather.

Murphy's oil soap works well add couple cap fulls to a small bucket it will be a little soapy that's fine that's what you want I use a kitchen sponge with a scubber side it will clean up real nice. Works like a charm on any of your wooden surfaces like hand rails :0)

I use Goop hand cleaner. You can find it in the auto dept. at WalMart. It is a vegetable based cleaner. Safe, no odor, and cheap. Rub it on and wipe off. Repeat till it's no longer sticky. Your furniture will be smooth as glass. For very thick buildup, use 0000 steel wool to rub it off, then a clean cloth.

Goop. I put it on the wood work and wipe with a strong paper towel. If it's real bad I use fine steel wool (gently).

I use Murphy's on wood. In this case, I would use it and a next to worn out soft scrubber.

Use a oh balanced dish soap such as Palmolive dish soap or anything that is good for hands. Rinse. And dry. Using Murphy's on wood is like throwing vegetable oil on it. Same with floors. Using oil will also creat more of a problem. You are cleaning the sealer not the wood. When you damage the sealer by using oils and soaps with vegetable oil in it will create more of a problem. It will build up and haze over. Clean the sealer and it will clean the wood.

Or protect the wood...is what I should have said.

Murphy's and a Mr. Clean Dry eraser for the stuck on gunk. Works great on wood because it won't dry it out nor leave it sticky like dish soap will.
