Cabinets Countertops Kitchens Painting

Painted Kitchen Cabinets & Countertops

Yup, cabinets AND counters! The original cabinetry was in perfect shape (only a few years old) but was horribly ill-planned when I picked the colors while building the house. Our kitchen has no direct sunlight or natural light sources and tended to be VERY dark 90% of the day. We decided to add some undermount lighting to see if that would brighten the space but only made the rest of the room feel even darker. I stumbled upon the Rustoleum Cabinet and Countertops Transformation kits and thought "It can't be that bad.". Let me tell you painting a kitchen this large by yourself (hubs doesn't paint) is not fun. The countertops are really easy to do and only take 2 days + dry time to finish. The cabinets took me a solid week of sun up to sun down but I think all in all the final product is amazing. It's been a while now and they are still in perfect condition like the day I finished. I highly recommend these products!

Lots of sweat and elbow grease went into this, but darn if it didn't turn out well!! Interesting how you've used brackets under the upper cabinets. Very nice; you should enjoy using this kitchen!

I am going to do my countertops with this product. Glad to hear from someone who actually did it. I need two packages and I sure don't want to waste $500.

The cabinet kit is called Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations, and the counter kit is Rustoleum Countertop Transformations. It's been months since I finished the project and I use the kitchen daily and I have no chips, scratches, dings, nada. It's truly a wonderful kitchen now! Rustoleum has a "Countertop Paint" which is not a kit just a quart, I have not read good things about this product so be sure you're buying the right thing when you go. The countertop kit is not the cheapest ($150 for ...»
the small kit) but it's cheaper than replacing your existing counters entirely. If you have chips, cracks, etc, the kit will completely cover those imperfections if you follow the instructions. I have no complaints! The kits are available at most Big Box stores (Home Depot, Lowes...) I haven't seen a difference in pricing between the two.

In our neck of the woods, we try to limit the amount of sunlight coming into the kitchen because of the intense heat so intense. This bright white look is awesome! I can tell that you are a perfectionist also and it shows. Also try Daylight bulbs they add natural light look. I couldn't live without them.

This is beautiful! My countertops are horribly ugly and pieced together badly by previous homeowner. Dreaming of new ones someday.

I love white cabinets. They look so clean and bright. Plus you can see if there is something on them and get it off quickly. In darker cabinetry they can get pretty cruddy before you notice it and then they're harder to clean.. Good job.

I have been using the Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations kit ot redo my bathroom cabinets and I love the way they are turning out. The kit is easy and (sort of ) affordable. I actually suspect that it could be done for less cost without the kit, but you'd really have to know your paints and for the slight additional cost the kit is much easier.

I found them on Craigslist Cathy. Isn't that amazing? $20/ea. I just spray painted them black and they've held up for going on three years now with minimal wear! The power of paint!

I did my kitchen cabinets with Rustoleum cabinet kit also. I love them it does take some time when doing it alone. I have had so many complements on them. I would recommend the product. One kit did all of my kitchen cost $67.00.

Becky Rachel G How many cabinets are we talking about?I have 7 Lower and 9 upper doors etc.Would a kit do that many? What is the difference between the kit and just cleaning them well and doing enamel paint? Mine are needing some tlc. And is that the same countertop? It looks so different with white cabs. I was amazed not too long ago, I got some new dish towels, deep ...»
aqua..an immediate difference in the kitchen and a pop of color! Who knew? i love the change in your kitchen. I too prefer white because youcan seeee what is on them. I used to clean houses for 20 years, and I initially hated to tackle the cabinets as part 0f my own routine, because they were so bad, but it didnt show because of the wood tone! And then they wanted that Liquid Gold stuff on them. IIcckkkk! No no no!
