What is growing in my garden?

Can't figure out what this is! See my last post for a bigger picture. Help!!
This is a close up of the leaves on the "thing" growing in my garden. See my last post for the big pic. Anyone know what this is? A tree? A weed?

Yes it is a tree and it is an Elm. I would dig it out. They are problem trees that have disease and pest problems and you never want a tree growing next to your house. Good luck!

I would keep it because of it's sturdiness and vigor. Never has health issues. But would want it to be 10 feet from a structure due to fast growth and huge mature size.

I disagree about no disease...we have problems with Dutch Elm Disease in these trees. And you don't want any tree that close to a foundation.
