You can also save the seeds as well. Some of mine are ready to harvest.

i looked at mine yesterday and I don't think they are in a good stage to transplant. I think I'll do what you mentioned. I did the same with my 3rd generation of zinnia's this year also. Started in the house in April and by late May they were in the ground and over a foot tall.
