Living room

This is my country-coastal style living room that we renovated last year. Since this is our first home we really are on a shoestring budget and all our renovations are DIY. This room was one of the biggest selling points for us when we first viewed the house as it's bay window and vertically joined claddling lends itself perfectly to our country coastal style of decorating.

Our crisp, white slipcovered couch is one of the few new items of furniture in the room with the rest being thrifted and upcycled, usually with a coat of beachy white paint. I also love to decorate with stone and white, soft blues and aquas, stripes, polka dots and a whole lot of white.

As you can see the living room was extremely brown when we moved in. Firstly we painted the walls in Dulux Fair Bianca half strength, changed out the curtains, pulled up the carpet and retiled the floor.

You certainly have a talent with white. It is difficult to use a lot of white and get a cozy, colorful feeling at the same time! Most people cannot do it and I would not even try! I love this look. Great job!

Casual beauty at its best! Love the use of white and natural hues. No one would ever know it there was so much DIY or thrift here. Great job!

If you have small children, white is not a practical color, unless you plan on washing a lot...lol Overall great room though! Very relaxing and peaceful, somewhere I'd want to go to read a book!

I would like to move into this room TODAY. Ilove what you have done and with such good taste on small budget. I really would like to do the same to my rooms.

I'm empty nest-ter and could handle all that white. I love the transformation from dark to coastal white-Kinda shabby chic-which I love. Great job, love it

This is a "manufactured home", correct? We purchased an older one last summer and need to refloor. I like tile but did not think tile was an option-the floors are not all perfectly level.
